Beneath the surface of the lake lies a fishing ground, adorned with water bungalows resembling numerous "islands." The owner of the lake, Xī Zhēn (played by Xu Qian), is a stunningly beautiful mute woman. Every morning, she operates a small boat to transport guests to the bungalows and sells fish feed to the fishermen. At night, she uses her allure to seduce these guests, and many morally corrupt men have met their fate in her enchanting beauty. Xian Zhi (played by Jin Ru Zhe), a former policeman on the run after killing his unfaithful girlfriend, finds himself on the "little island." Filled with despair, he contemplates suicide by putting a gun in his mouth. Just as he is about to pull the trigger, Xi Zhen emerges from the water and stabs a sharp knife into his thigh. Unable to end his own life, Xian Zhi develops both a peculiar and intimate bond with Xi Zhen. From then on, the two embark on a mad and passionate battle of desire within this remote and desolate sanctuary.
